Typically students meet with there advisor when they are getting read to register for the next semester of classes. The best way to prepare for this is to have an idea of what types of classes you want to take. If you are in a specific major you can reference the Program Planning Sheets which suggest the best order to take classes in.

Whether you know what classes you want to take or not, it’s also a good idea to see what classes are available and when they take place. The Look Up Classes feature in the Portal is useful for this.  Here is how to use it:

  1. Go to the SUNY Ulster Portal
  2. Go to the Student Resources Tab, down to Advisement and Registration
  3. Click Registration Tools, and click Look Up Classes
  4. Select the term and click submit
  5. Select a subject and click submit
  6. You will now see all the classes available under that subject. You can click on each class to see what days and times they will be availabe at and who will be teaching.
