An A.A. degree is an Associates of Arts, an A.S. degree is an Associates of Science, and an A.A.S. degree is an Associates of Applied Science. Typically, an A.A. and A.S. degree are transfer degrees; they are designed to prepare students to transfer to another school to complete their bachelors degree. Meanwhile, an A.A.S. degree is typically designed for students to be ready to enter into a career upon completion. If you plan on furthering your education, it's important to remember that an A.A.S. degree may transfer some credits, but an A.A. or A.S. degree will be your better option.
