Here are the steps to send a message on BlackBoard:

  1. Sign onto the SUNY Ulster Portal and in the upper right hand corner click on the BlackBoard logo marked "Courses"
  2. On your BlackBoard home page under "My Courses" click the class in which you would like to send a message.
  3. If the sidebar on the lefthand bar is not expanded, do so, and then click "Messages"
  4. Click "Create Message"
  5. Click "To" and a box will open up with the names of your classmates and professor. Select the ones you want to recieve the message, click the arrow to send them over to the box of recipients.
  6. Type in a subject than type the message in the open box.
  7. Click submit to send your message.
  8. It will now be able to be found in your sent folders which can be found by clicking "Messages" again from on the sidebar in your class BlackBoard page.
